Shaun Balch FCA - Director
Shaun qualified with Moore Stephens (Northampton) in 1991 before joining an independent firm in Stony Stratford in 1994. In 1996 he founded Thompson Balch and since then has built the practice acting for family businesses where he advises on all areas of business and taxation. He specialises in helping businesses plan for growth and subsequent realisation of value on sale or retirement.
Denise Balch ACA - Director
Denise qualified with Moore Stephens (Kettering) becoming a partner in the firm in 1992. She left in 1998 to have her first child and decided to join Thompson Balch later that year. Denise acts for a wide range of clients advising on all areas of business and taxation. She has particular experience with charities and personal taxation.
Simon
Simon has worked in an accountancy practice since leaving school in 2000 and for Thompson Balch since June 2006.
Having successfully completed a Modern Apprenticeship covering most of the AAT modules (Association of Accounting Technicians) and winning the Regional Student of the Year, he is now studying for ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
He enjoys all sports (as a participant and spectator) but in particular regularly trains at Tai Chi Chuan. He has also recently taken up golf but feels he has a way to go before he can compete with Shaun!
Waqas BA (hons)
Waqas joined our team in 2008 within our accounts department.
He has a BA Honours degree and is now studying for his professional ACCA papers.
Waqas has a passion for cricket and is a member of a local cricket club. He also enjoys cooking and occasionally treats us to some of his delicacies.
Tricia
After graduating, Tricia worked in Human Resources but ended this career with the start of her family. Once her children started school, in 1996, she joined Thompson Balch working part-time as a receptionist/administrator enjoying the benefits of TB’s flexible approach to working hours. Now her boys are both at university she works four full days a week.
Tricia ensures the office runs efficiently, deals with clients’ general queries and runs the payroll service.
When not at work Tricia enjoys walking, yoga, theatre, and is a member of a book group and choir.
Jodie
Jodie did her school work experience placement with us in 2005 and we were so impressed we’ve brought her back every year since to give us some extra help during her school/university holidays. After the completion of her BA Management degree at the University of Leicester in 2010, Jodie aims to pursue a career in Accounting.
When at University she is involved with the Street Dance and Modern Dance society and also enjoys the stereotypical student activities of socialising frequently and spending too much money!!!
